DON8URI: an advocacy-driven F&B social enterprise (co-founded by a Deaf & a Hearing) championing for accessibility and social integration+ while creating greater public awareness of our Deaf community; sharing more insights into our Deaf culture and Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) through experiential dining* & workshops^.

We also conduct sign language workshops to foster greater inclusion & bridge communication gaps between the Deaf & the hearing as we envision a truly inclusive Singapore where SgSL is recognised as Singapore's 5th official language.

+ Since 2019, we’ve 10 Deaf advocates (who primarily use sign language as their main mode of communication) journeying alongside us in our advocacy efforts. We’ve trained 8 Deaf advocates in customer service, of which 5 are barista-trained.

We've 2 experienced sign language instructors, one has been teaching sign language since 1988.

 * Experiential Dining

With a humble beginning as a “live” station caterer in 2019 serving consumers at farmer markets/bazaars/flea markets and businesses in Singapore, for private or corporate events to operating an inclusive cafe serving wholesome poke bowls & gourmet coffee/tea with Hokkaido Fresh Milk served/handcrafted by Deaf advocates.

Customers get to learn how to sign eg.: “Beef”, “Chicken”, “Fish”, “Espresso”, “Caffe Latte”, “Iced Matcha Latte” to place their order.

Gourmet coffee/tea cart is available for booking - enjoy a cuppa in the comfort of your offices or schools while interacting with our Deaf advocates.

^ Experiential Workshops

Bridging the communication gap & sharing greater insights to our Deaf culture & Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) through experiential workshops (partnering schools, government agencies & corporates) and at public outreach events such as the Purple Parade, KindnessDaySG & Night At Orchard.

DON8URI is a Singapore Book of Records holder for “The Most Number of People Doing Coffee Painting Together”, a self-care workshop curated for the educators at Clementi Town Secondary School in celebration of our 5th Anniversary in 2024.
